Back To School!!!!!

 Welcome Back!
I hope each of you had a super summer and that you are ready for fourth grade at White Oak Intermediate.    So that everyone will start the year off on the right foot,  I want to share several things with both the students and parents.  The planners are the best form of communication that we have, and homework and other information will be recorded daily.     Parents, please check and sign these Monday- Thursday. On most Tuesdays I will send notebooks home so that parents can review student progress.    There will be a signature sheet for them to sign each week. Please make sure to go over the student handbook carefully, especially the sections pertaining to the dress code, birthday invitations, and bus changes.   The students may want to bring water bottles to class,  especially during the hot weather.    The bottles need to be nonbreakable and have sealable lids.  The  classroom phone has not always been reliable,  so it is best to send a written note or an e-mail if you need to contact me.   Thanks so much for your support!

School is almost out!!!

Hello Parents,

It is so hard to believe the end of another school year is here.   While I’m sure there is much excitement and anticipation about summer, I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to teach your son/daughter.  Each of them are very special and I know they will do a great job in fifth grade.    I hope you all have a wonderful and safe summer.   Enjoy it because we all know it will go by very fast.   :-)

HOMECOMING!!!

Well HOMECOMING 2009 is here and it will be a very exciting day!!!    It will be wonderful to see the exes of White Oak come back to the school to visit the campuses.    There are so many activities planned, along with the football game and the announcement of the Homecoming Queen, and don’t forget the parade on Saturday.    I am looking forward to seeing all of you there.   How many of you have parents that graduated from White Oak?  How about grandparents?    That would be awesome, to be a generation of Roughnecks!!!

Have a great HOMECOMING weekend!!!

OFF and RUNNING!!!

Dear Parents,

Just a note to let you know you should have seen you child’s homework binder.  It will come home several times for you to review the students papers before reports go out.    Right now in math we are working on decimals, with tenths and hundredths, and numeration.

Please look at your child’s planner daily so you can see any notes and homework, tests, etc.

Thanks!!!!

BACK TO SCHOOL!

School is back in session, and we are starting off with a blast!!!
I have a great group of kids that I want to welcome to 4th grade this year. We will be doing many exciting things.

We are starting our novel, A Paradise in Texas. This is about a family that moves from Germany to Texas. Do you have any one in your family from another country? If so, let me know. We are going to be studying about Germany, and learning some of the different language as we are reading!

Also, we are working hard on numeration and place value in math. The students are learning to write numbers in standard form, word form, and expanded form up through the millions place.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year!!
